Panda Kings hold a special place here at Holy-Poly. Along with Zebra Isopods, they were the very first species we kept when we entered the hobby, so we’re admittedly a little biased when recommending them.

With their adorable little faces, striking black-and-white pattern, and curious personalities, it’s easy to see why Panda Kings have become one of the most popular Cubaris species. They’re a fun choice for anyone looking for a unique, quiet, and cute pet that’s enjoyable to observe.

Originally from the humid caves of Vietnam, Panda Kings have also proven to be an excellent clean-up crew for bioactive enclosures. Like many Cubaris species, however, they tend to be shy and spend much of their time beneath leaf litter and cork bark.

Habitat: Panda Kings thrive in a tropical enclosure with high humidity (65-80%), increased ventilation, temperatures between 70-78°F, and 3-4 inches of quality substrate. Providing plenty of leaf litter, cork bark, and other hiding places will help them feel secure and encourage natural behaviors.

Diet: Their primary diet should consist of decaying leaf litter and rotting hardwood. They also benefit from a quality calcium source, such as limestone, along with occasional supplemental foods including isopod diets, vegetables, fruits, and protein offered in moderation.

Reproduction: Moderate. Healthy colonies reproduce steadily under proper conditions, making Panda Kings one of the more beginner-friendly Cubaris species while still being rewarding for experienced keepers.
