• Do not release them into the wild (per USDA APHIS).

Habitat: White Springtails thrive in consistently moist environments and are best suited for humid and tropical bioactive enclosures. Unlike some springtail species, Folsomia candida is not recommended for arid or dry setups.

Diet: Springtails naturally feed on decaying organic matter, fungi, and mold within the enclosure. Starter cultures can be maintained by occasionally feeding small amounts of uncooked rice or other springtail foods while keeping the culture moist.

Unpacking your Springtails

We ship your springtails on a custom blend of Calcium Clay that is still moist.

To extract your springtails and continue culturing more into the desired enclosure:

1. Open the lid.
2. Pour the water and springtails into the desired enclosure, seeding the enclosure.
3. After seeding the enclosure, add one piece of uncooked rice to the starter cup.
4. Lightly mist the clay with room-temperature water. The clay should remain moist but not flooded.
5. Close the lid and keep the culture at room temperature, away from direct sunlight.

Starter cultures typically contain many microscopic babies. Repeat these steps to continually culture additional springtails for future enclosures.
